Nursery-- getting started (8/5)

Well, we are going with Lavender and Sage as our nursery colors. My vision for the walls is lavender paint on top, chair rail in the middle (white) and then sage and green stripes on the bottom. We wanted Sage as an accent, so we can reuse a ton of the green items for a boy or girl the next few times around!

I've found 2 bedding sets I'm partial to, and purchased them both. Now I need to just make a decision-- Dave loves them both too- so he's leaving it in my hands. So hoping to decide today.

We bought a glider yesterday- so exciting. We got it in Mint Green- so it will be able to be reused with Kid 2 and Kid 3. It's big, but everyone has told us that getting a good glider is worth it- so we went for comfy!

Also found some awesome sage and white striped curtains. Not sure if it will be too much - but oh so cute! I'll just have to wait until we've painted to see if it looks good or not!

Mom and (anyone else who is bored this Friday is welcome) I are painting the nursery Friday. So once I can figure out the the bedding, I'm going to take it to JC Licht for a color match.

So- all that we need to do now really is figure out which of the 2 crib sets we have narrowed it down to, is the one we want. One is white, One is espresso. Both have ups and downs- so hard. White is painted wood, so it's very easy to chip. White will go with the nursery b/c of white trim and the white incorporated into the room. White won't show bite marks as much as it's painted over a lighter colored wood. Espresso makes the bedding just pop! It really creates more of a dramatic look, and will be able to be used as the babies get older. White tends to be more "childish". Espresso is going to show any scratches/marks more easily than white, and is going to need to be constantly dusted. Ugh. Such a decision- very tough one!!!

Anyhoo- once I make some choices, I'll take a few photos and post up here!

Em's Visit/ 21 Week Update

July 26th:
Em came to visit me this week!! So nice to see her. I miss her & Megan, etc so much!!!

And this photo cracks me up. Ry looks like she's a giant :)

Dave and I got our first official baby gift from Em and Mary- a cute Baby Gap pink jumper. OMG- So adorable!!!

We were able to get some shopping in ourselves, and Em put up with my baby obsession. It was nice b/c now that I knew the gender for sure I could FINALLY start to look more seriously!

July 30th:
This week I was out in NY/NJ again. Hit the Yankee game on Tues night, it was SOOO hot! We also got a cute pink outfit from Cindy & Paul!!! It has puppies all over it- Sooo adorable, and "so Cindy" LOL!! Dave opened it b/c I was out of town this week for work. He thought it was for Rylee at first, b/c he knew how much Cindy loves the pup! BUT- once he got to the onesie, bib, an footies included he figured it out :) LOL

It's a GIRL!!!! (20 week update)

YAY!! So exciting!!! We are having a girl!

We are so excited. My instinct was right- who'd have thought!?! I'm so excited- and since I'm the oldest sibling/girl myself, it's pretty darn cool. We had the level 2 U/S. Won't bore you on all the details, as there is no need just yet.... but the perinatologist still says we are measuring VERY long- longest they've seen yet. It's quite possible that the baby's growth will slow down, but it definitely looks like it will be a tall one! We'll see. He also said 12/8 is more realistic than the 12/15 date.

I also had my 20 week doc appt this week. This time I saw Dr. L, Great doc. He knows Kristen and talked to me about delivering at Delnor vs CDH. They all seem to push CDH over Delnor as the Superior Hospital, but that doesn't surprise me since Delnor's "all around" rep is so bad. We start our classes in the early fall, at each hospital- so we'll decide then. He answered my questions and overall it was a very quick and easy appt. He also stated the 12/15 date will remain Dr F's date, but he agrees with the perinatologist, that 12/8 is more likely.

19 Weeks: Vacation with Mom

Week of July 16th:
Mom and I went down to FL for a few days. I need to use up my vac days for work, Dave needs to save his for when the baby comes. Since mom is off for summer vac, it worked out that she could join me!

We went down to Destin, FL and stayed at the Hilton Sandestin Resort and Spa. It was gorgeous. I'll post a few photos below-- but one minute you are driving through swamp and the next minute you are in Destin, and the water is turquoise blue and CLEAR. Soooo clean- no trash washing up on shore- just gorgeous. The softest white sand beaches I've ever been on. It was amazing. Very Caribbean-like.

The pool was nice too- and needed. It was HOT. Very HOT. Baby Wags kept me drinking water though! The vac was short- made even shorter by a drive from New Orleans to Destin (We flew into NO- not doing that drive again!)... But the time we spent there in Destin was great!

Lastly, Danielle went with me Sunday to BRU to start our registry. We were there for 5.5 hours- but WOW. We got so much done. She is the best! What a lifesaver. It was nice having someone say- don't bother with this, oh yea you'll want that, etc. I feel a huge weight lifted off my shoulders!! Thanks DaniJ! :)

Catching up....18 Week Update

I've started so many updates, but needed to load photos, so just had them in draft. Sorry about that.

*18 week update*

So I finally got the courage to remove my belly button ring. It was so very sad. That was a part of me. But I did it, and afterwards, my belly button was happy!! The last photos of the belly with the ring. These are at 17 & 18 weeks.

2 weeks until we find out the gender- I'm getting so excited. My gut instinct is that it is a girl. Everyone else thinks boy, but I just have a hunch we're going to have a girl first. We'll see how far off I am on July 24th.

After much hassle, I've finally also gotten the perinatologist to call Dr F and have her allow the Level 2 u/s. It was very frustrating, but I'm so glad that I did that, b/c we are going to go get it.

6/22: 15 Week Appt

Friday I went in for my "15" week appt.

I first discussed with doctor F the results of the Nuchal Translucency. I mentioned that the perinatologist seemed to think I was a week ahead. She said it is possible, but that they will not change my due date until later if so. That for now, she would like to keep me at 12/15, and not the 12/8. I guess its a "big deal" for doctors to change a due date... which makes no sense, since every doc gives me a different one! As Dave said- we're going with the perinatologist's view- 12/8, since he was quite extensive and I'll be seeing him again later in the pregnancy too. We trust him more- esp after everything else that happened at this appt.

I gave blood for the AFP test so that will also test for downs, etc. I also got very upset with my doc's viewpoint about the Level 2 ultrasound, and testing my cervical length. Without going into too much detail, I really felt her information was not correct, and plan to see a different doctor in the group after my next appt.

My BP was 110/60. Lower than last time, but still higher than normal. No concern though, since it's still below the avg norm. The baby's heart rate was 143.

My "BIG" Ultrasound is scheduled for July 24th- so I'll be just 20 weeks. Looking sooo forward to it! Can't wait!

Lastly, my belly popped last week. So I'm in full maternity pants now, and thanks to mom, we were able to find a few decent pairs. And sad to say, I'll be taking out the belly button ring next week. :(
